09 DEC Tuesday Meeting : UOD : AF Blues. Time: 1900 -2200 hours. Teaneck Armory

Cadets bring your CAPF 120, NJWG CAPE Form 52-1 & CAPF 58-1 if you are applying for COY .

As a follow-up to Lt.Col. Yull’s messaging on the Of the Year Submissions, I wanted to provide some basic information for your Cadet of the Year Selections. For consistency, Cadet of the Year submissions are due by 1 January 2015.

Where possible, it would be great to see submissions for eligible cadets in each of the 4 Phases of the program at every squadron. As many of you are aware, the full Board Guide to the process can be found on DragonNET ; however, I have highlighted a few significant steps below.

The pertinent forms for these submissions: CAPF 120; CAPF 58 and NJWF 52-1 (CAPE).

Cadets need to get three basic reference letters from respected individuals outside of Civil Air Patrol, ie teachers, coaches, religious leaders, close family adult friends, etc.

Furthermore, they need to obtain a copy of their transcripts (whether HS or college), as well as any appropriate standardized test scores like the SATs.

Finally, they must submit a photo in AF Blues as detailed in the Board Guide.

Once all documentation has been compiled, scan it into electronic form and create a pdf copy.

For NJWG COY, Mail the hard-copy forms to MAJ Robert Motz at Wing Headquarters, and forward an electronic copy, as well to him and to MAJ Frank Tino.

For the VFW and AFA COY Awards submit the electronic packet of the above items to MAJ Frank Tino, Unit Commander as well as printing out a paper copy to submit to MAJ Frank Tino.

In all honesty, this process does take a considerable amount of senior oversight and energy, but it is a good opportunity for your chosen cadets to gain additional experience.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

MAJ Frank V. Tino,Jr.
NJ 035
Commander
